Frequently Asked Questions
What are your service areas?
I am located in Cypress Park, and I treat patients in the surrounding areas. These include Altadena, Arcadia, Atwater Village, Eagle Rock, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Glendale, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Mt. Washington, Pasadena, San Marino, Silver Lake, Temple City. Please reach out even if you don’t see your neighborhood/city listed - I may still be able to accommodate you!
If my schedule permits, I will travel to areas outside of my service area for an additional travel fee.
Will my insurance cover acupuncture/therapy?
Most insurances cover my sessions, with a few exceptions. It is important that you get insurance BEFORE an illness/injury occurs that way it is not considered a pre-existing condition.
Does it cost more for house calls compared to brick and mortar clinics?
Unfortunately, yes. Though one reason house call vets charge more is because they need to factor in travel time, one good thing is that we are able to spend more time with each individual patient instead of treating multiple patients simultaneously while vet techs or assistants monitor the pet.
How often does my pet need acupuncture/therapy?
This depends on the type of illness/injury your pet has and the chronicity of the issue. Although each pet is different, in general you can expect to initially need 2-3 visits a week for an acute neurologic disease, and 1-2 visits a week for orthopedic conditions. Most pets are able to taper down to a decreased maintenance frequency once their pain is gone and they have stabilized.
How long are the visits?
Initial visits are two hours long and include an exam, acupuncture, a custom home exercise program, and a combination of rehabilitation modalities including cold laser, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise.
Follow-up visits are one hour long and include acupuncture and rehabilitation.
Are you a full service veterinarian?
No. I specialize in acupuncture and rehabilitation. I recommend that each of my patients continues to see their own general practice veterinarian. I am always happy to collaborate with your general practice vet in order to provide your pet with the highest quality care!
What is the estimated arrival time policy?
I ask for a one hour buffer period for my arrival. For example, if your appointment is scheduled for 3PM, that means I will arrive any time between 3PM and 4PM. I ask for this grace period in case I run into traffic, have an emergency case to deal with, or need to spend extra time talking with a pet parent if something has changed with the pet.
Do you do emergencies?
No. In case of emergency, please contact your closest emergency veterinary clinic. One 24/7 ER is LAASER in Glassell Park - their phone number is 323-800-8387.
